Our Story

MAS for the Masses was founded in the summer of 2015 by Moni Avila as a means for pre-teens and young adults to learn about their Mexican-American ancestry and culture. She recognized the need for community based classes to teach Mexican-American youth about their own history in an ever growing population in this demographic. Moni Avila took it upon herself to call upon her resources from a large pool of like-minded artists, community leaders, public figures, professors, and educated professionals, to advocate for the youth and teach them from their own experience in a workshop environment. As these classes continue, the goal is to expand more awareness, young to old, of our place in history and to bridge the educational gap between the public school system and institutions of higher learning.
